Guitar Basic Daily Excercises

In order to effectivly play guitar a good sense of finger strength and dexterity must be developed. The best way to achieve this is by engaging in a daily routine in which you can run through to build up your muscles.

Exercise 1

Start with your index finger on the 1st fret of the high E string strum it, then hammer-on the 2nd fret with your middle finger. Make this hammer-on slow and deliberate to insure you are engaging in perfect practice. Then move up to the next string and repeat with the same two fingers. Do this all the way up and then back down the guitar. After you have completed that do the process all over again except this time with your middle and ring finger. Then finally with your ring and pinky fingers.

Exercise 2

Start with your index finger on the 1st fret of the high E string, your middle finger on the 2nd fret, and your pinky on the 4th fret. First strum the string with just the 1st fret depressed, then depress the 2nd fret while keeping the first fret depressed and strum the string again, and finally depress the 4th fret while still keeping the other frets depressed. Repeat this process up and down the guitar.

After that has been completed repeat the process using your ring finger on the 3rd fret instead of your middle finger on the 2nd fret.
