Minor Scales, like major scales include eight notes and can be played in any key. The notes in a minor scale elicit a sad sound. There are two variations of the minor scale called: Harmonic minor scale, and Melodic minor scale. For the Harmonic: raise the seventh note of the scale by one half step. For the Melodic: raise the sixth and seventh notes by a half step on the way up the scale, and return them to natural on the way down the scale.
